About Mrs. Hamaguchi

I have been teaching since 1987, which is a very, very long time. Amazingly, I continue to learn new things all the time, especially when it comes to teaching the students in my class and helping them become effective learners. Recently, I joined some other teachers in learning from one of the best inquiry based teachers in the world, Kath Murdoch. She has worked in schools around the globe.

When I am not teaching, I like to spend my time doing a variety of things. I would say that my greatest passion is sewing and generally being creative. When I started sewing baby quilts as a new hobby, just a couple of years ago, I needed to follow a pattern created by someone else. One of the first quilts was called Hundred Hugs and I found it online. Here is a photo of the one I made, following the pattern.

Another passion is my family. My youngest daughter attends Douglas College and my eldest daughter just graduated from U.B.C. Of course, their dad and I are very proud of both of them.
